Peter Cunningham (racing driver)

Peter Cunningham (born July 1, 1962 in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin) is an American race car driver.

Cunningham began his professional racing career in SCCA World Challenge in 1990 driving a Honda CRX, finishing second in class. He drove an Oldsmobile Cutlass in the 1991 24 Hours of Daytona.[1] In 1996 and 1997 he drove a factory-backed Honda Accord in the North American Touring Car Championship, finishing 5th and 2nd in the championship in its two years of operation. In 1999 and 2000 he drove in the American Le Mans Series in the GT class for Prototype Technology Group behind the wheel of a BMW M3. He finished 12th in points in 1999 and 18th in 2000. He returned to SCCA World Challenge in 2002 driving a GT class Acura NSX and finished second in points. In 2005 he won the Touring Car class in a Realtime Racing Acura TSX. He finished 4th in class in 2006 and 5th in class in 2007. He won his second class championship in 2008 for the same team. He finished third in 2009 and won his third class championship for Realtime in 2010.[2] He is the winningest driver in World Challenge history.

Cunningham currently lists his hometown as Grafton, Wisconsin.
